The Labyrinth is different from a maze in that it has no beginning and no end.   If one follows a line to the centre of the labyrinth it jumps across and spirals out to the circumference and then spirals back to the center.  Often they where used as mandalas to meditate or as a metaphor of a journey inward and outward.   The labyrinth is a symbol of equilibrium and balance.
