This Knot represents two halves as a whole for eternity, Balance and Strength.
It is a Celtic loveknot found on many Irish, Pictish and Scandinavian stones and Crosses. One of the best examples and oldest is found in the Book of Durrow (675AD).
Note the Mobius design which is a symbol of the Infinite.
This pattern pierced looks stunning as well because of the balance of negative and positive space.
